The myth about 6-figure freelancers...
I don’t know about you, but the idea that a freelancer making 6-figures has all their business ducks in a row is a myth.
The truth is, they don’t.
Nine times out of 10, their business processes are usually a big mess. They have more commitments and projects than they can handle and are too busy to get organized. It’s definitely on their to-do list, but it keeps being pushed down.
How do I know?
Because I was that 6-figure freelancer.
On the surface, things were great. I was working with big-name clients and making big money. I had a 6-month waitlist, and invitations for podcasts and joint webinars were pouring into my inbox.
Below the surface? My business was a chaotic mess.
I couldn’t keep track of my deadlines, my calendar was overbooked, and my inbox had turned into a bottomless pit where emails went to get lost.
And even though I kept telling myself I had a handle on things – that this was just organized chaos – it only took working on three projects simultaneously for things to unravel.
I missed deadlines, extended them, and then I missed them again.
Most days, I’d get to my desk and struggle to figure out what fires needed putting out first. The sheer amount of work that needed my attention was insane, and there weren’t enough hours in the day for me to complete it.
I’d get overwhelmed just thinking about it, and then I’d procrastinate.
(K-dramas on Netflix were my favorite form of procrastination.)
